I am a former radio announcer (30+ years), and had the opportunity to live in several interesting places, and meet some amazing people - including Axl Rose & Gloria Steinem....but not at the same time- that would have been a weird party, right? I also owned a small Handbag business later in life-my full time "side hustle". I designed & made every handbag I sold, while toiling away in my adorable beach side shop (on a pier!). My mom taught me the basics of sewing at a very young age, and sewing continues to be a part of my daily life. I've sewn banners and stage decor for famous musicians, sold handbags to well known politicians, but I'm most proud of the fact that I sewed -and donated- hundreds of masks during the pandemic. Like most of us, I felt helpless during this horrible time, but quickly learned that masks were a MUCH needed item, so I fired up the sewing machine and joined a volunteer sewing group (2, actually) and jumped in with both feet I seem to gravitate towards making things that are useful, often times I create things that can hold other things - I'm not sure why - but it's what I do. Creating baskets and bowls with cotton rope falls right in to that category.
